National Organizations

ITEP works with NIEA to accomplish their mission to advance comprehensive, culture-based educational opportunities for AI/AN/NH children.

ITEP Co-Directors Drs. Shirley & Garcia created a new section within AERA's Division K: "Indigenous Teaching and Teacher Education"

ITEP is 1 of 13 university, college, or educational departments in NNTEC contributing to their 5-year plan to improve the quality of Diné education
Native Nations
Our Arizona tribes regularly host ITEP student teachers who often go on to become teachers in these communities. Additionally, we support students in building new partnerships with their local Indigenous community schools to facilitate fieldwork experience and complete their student teaching portion of the program.
University Programs
These programs provide on-going support, professional development, and mentorship for our teacher candidates
